Import your Pocket Saves
With many Pocket users hunting for alternatives, we fast-tracked a Pocket import feature, and it’s here. You can now import up to 1,000 Pocket saves at a time directly into Recall, enabling you to use Recall as your Pocket alternative and experience an AI-powered read-it-later app. This is just the first version, and we’re excited to improve it based on your feedback.
How to import your Pocket Saves
- Open Recall. Your pocket.zip file is usually saved on your computer, so desktop is easiest, but you can also import from the mobile app.
- Click Add in the top-right corner of the Recall app.
- Select Bulk import at the bottom of the Add Content window.
- Choose Pocket.
- Select your pocket.zip file: make sure it’s the .zip file and not the unzipped folder.
- Click Import. Recall imports up to 1,000 Pocket saves at a time, starting with the most recent. If you have more, upload the same .zip file again. Recall skips links already in your knowledge base and imports the next batch.
From Pocket to Recall: What to Expect After Importing
Once your Pocket Saves are imported into Recall, they’re instantly transformed into interactive knowledge cards, allowing you to move from passive reading to engaging with your content in the way that works best for you.
Here’s what you can do with your imported Pocket Saves:
- Chat With Your Content: You can now get real value from your Pocket Saves by chatting across all of them at once. Ask questions, explore topics, and surface insights without having to open each article individually. Remember to @ the tag name that contains your Pocket Saves.
- AI Summaries: Create summaries that capture the main ideas of any article. Go to the Chat tab, choose a summary type, and add it to your notebook.
- Generate Connections: See how your ideas relate by clicking “Generate Connections” in the Connections tab. Recall will show links between your cards, helping you spot recurring themes and related concepts.
- Test Your Understanding: Turn your cards into quizzes to reinforce what you’ve learned and keep track of your progress.
Note
- Categorization, summaries, and connections aren’t created automatically when doing bulk imports. You can generate them as needed to stay in control of your workspace and manage AI usage efficiently. Running AI actions on up to 100 cards at once is available on Recall Max.
- Pocket import is available on Plus and Max. On the free plan, the Pocket option shows a Plus badge.
- On the free plan, you can still save articles one at a time and use Recall as a free read-it-later app: in Settings, set “Auto summarization” to “Open Reader”.
- Pocket shut down in July 2025, so you need the pocket.zip export you downloaded from Pocket.
