Save, Organize, and Remember Instagram Posts and Reels

Instagram is full of things you mean to come back to: the recipe you want to cook, the workout you’ll try next week, the travel spot you’re saving for a trip, the design idea you love. You tap save, and it vanishes into a giant grid you never open again. Recall pulls the posts and Reels worth keeping into your knowledge base as organized, searchable cards, so you can actually find them when the moment comes.

Why use Recall for Instagram

  • Never lose a post again: the recipes, tips, and inspiration you care about live in one organized place instead of a bottomless Instagram saves folder.
  • Organize the way you think: tag a recipe recipes or a trip idea travel, so what you save sits in topic collections instead of one endless feed.
  • Find it exactly when you need it: search “pasta recipe” when you’re planning dinner and pull up the Reel, instead of scrolling your saves hoping to spot it.
  • Keep the gist of a Reel: for Reels with spoken tips or steps, Recall captures the substance so you remember what made you save it.
  • Connect it to the rest of your life: a saved recipe links itself to the cookbook notes and food articles you’ve saved on the same theme.

For example, you see a Reel for a 20-minute dinner you want to make. Instead of saving it on Instagram (and forgetting it), you share it to Recall and tag it recipes. On a busy weeknight, you search “quick dinner” and the Reel is right there.

See it in action

In the Instagram app, tap share on a post or Reel and choose Recall, or paste its link into the Recall app. If you don’t see Recall in the share sheet the first time, tap More to find it, where you can enable it for next time. Download Recall on the App Store or Google Play.

The Instagram workflow, step by step

Whatever you save, the flow is the same: save, organize, chat, remember, and connect. Expand any step to see what it looks like with an Instagram post or Reel.

Part 1Save
Saving is one step, usually right from the Instagram app.
  • Mobile share sheet: from the Instagram app on your phone, tap share and choose Recall, or paste the link into the Recall app. If you don't see Recall in the share sheet the first time, tap More to find it, where you can enable it for next time. Get Recall on the App Store or Google Play.
  • Paste the URL: copy the link to a post or Reel and paste it into Recall.
  • Browser extension: while reading on Instagram in your browser, save the post in one click without leaving the page. Install it for Chrome or Firefox.
Once saved, Recall creates a card for the post in your knowledge base, ready to organize and find again.

Example: You're scrolling at night and see a Reel for a weekend hike. You share it to Recall and keep scrolling. When you plan your Saturday, it's saved and tagged, ready to go.
Part 2Organize

This is where Recall beats Instagram’s own saves. Instead of one endless grid, you get organized collections.

  • Automatic tagging: Recall reads the post and tags it by topic, so it lands in the right place without any effort.
  • Your own tags: add tags that match your life, like recipes, fitness, travel, or home.
  • Topic collections: over time, everything you save on a theme sits together, so your saved recipes are actually a recipe collection. Learn more in Tagging.

Example: You tag five saved Reels recipes. Open that tag and you have your own searchable cookbook, instead of hunting through hundreds of unrelated saves.

Part 3Chat

For Reels and posts with real substance, chat helps you pull out what you need.

  • Chat with the post: ask things like “what are the ingredients?” or “what are the steps in this routine?” Answers are grounded in what you saved.
  • Chat across everything: open global chat in the left panel by clicking the AI icon, then @ mention a tag to ask a question across every post, article, and note you've saved on a topic at once. See global chat.
  • Capture your own notes: add a note to the card, like a tweak you want to make to a recipe.

Example: You saved several workout Reels. You ask across them, “build me a simple weekly routine from these,” and get a plan drawn from the ones you saved.

Part 4Remember

Saving a post only helps if you can find it again. Recall makes everything you save searchable and brings it back when it’s relevant.

  • Search: find any saved post or Reel with natural language, months after you saved it.
  • Augmented Browsing: related saves come back to you as you browse the web, reconnecting you with ideas you'd saved and forgotten. See Augmented Browsing.
  • Browse by tag: open a topic tag and see every post, article, and note you've saved on that subject in one place.

Example: Planning a trip, you search “Lisbon” and pull up the café Reel, the neighborhood post, and the packing tip you’d each saved months apart.

Part 5Connect

Instead of sitting in isolation, saved posts join a growing web of ideas across everything you’ve saved.

  • Automatic connections: Recall links each post to related content you've already saved, with no work on your part. A recipe Reel links itself to a cooking article and a note you saved on the same cuisine.
  • Your own connections: want to go further? You can create connections by hand to capture a link only you would see, tying post to a specific plan or project, like a trip or a fitness goal. See Connect Content. It's entirely optional.
  • See it visually: explore how everything fits together in the Knowledge Graph, or learn more in Connect Content.

Example: You save Instagram Reels, a few articles, and notes while planning a kitchen renovation. Without linking anything by hand, Recall connects them around the project, so the whole vision is in one place.

How Instagram posts become part of your second brain

On their own, saved posts are just a grid you’ll never reopen. In Recall, every Instagram post and Reel you keep joins everything else you’ve saved: your articles, videos, podcasts, and notes. They get tagged, connected, and made searchable, so a recipe you saved today resurfaces next to the cooking notes and articles you’ve saved on the same theme. That growing, connected library is your second brain: a place where the inspiration you collect actually gets used instead of forgotten.

See how it all fits together in the AI Second Brain guide.

Frequently asked questions

How do I save an Instagram post to Recall?

To save an Instagram post to Recall, share it from the Instagram app on your phone using the share sheet, or paste the post URL into the Recall app or browser extension. Recall stores it as a searchable card in your knowledge base, so the recipe, tip, or idea stays accessible instead of getting lost in your Instagram saves.

Can I save Instagram Reels?

Yes. Recall saves Instagram Reels as well as standard posts. Share the Reel to Recall or paste its link, and Recall keeps it as a card you can organize, search, and revisit, so the cooking technique or workout you wanted to try is there when you need it rather than buried in your feed.

How do I organize my saved Instagram posts?

In Recall, saved Instagram posts and Reels are automatically tagged by topic and connected to related content you’ve saved. You can also add your own tags, like recipes, fitness, or travel, so the things you save sit together in topic libraries instead of disappearing into one long list of Instagram saves.

How is Recall better than saving posts in Instagram?

Instagram’s own saves pile everything into one place you rarely reopen, with no way to search or organize. Recall keeps your saved posts and Reels as tagged, searchable cards in your knowledge base, connected to everything else you save, so a recipe you saved months ago actually resurfaces when you’re planning dinner.

Can I save Instagram posts to find recipes or workouts later?

Yes. Recall is ideal for this. Save the recipe Reels and workout posts you want to try, tag them by type, and they become a searchable collection you can pull up any time. Instead of scrolling your saves hoping to find that pasta recipe, you search recipes in Recall and it’s there.
