Listen Mode
Listen Mode is for the moments you would rather hear something than read it. A summary, or a chat you saved in the notebook, can be read aloud in a built-in voice, or in a cloned voice of someone close to you. In the video, a dad’s voice reads a morning podcast summary.
Listen reads back the summary and other text Recall wrote for you, such as a saved chat. The original article, PDF, or video stays in the Reader.
Listen to a summary
- Open a card.
- Open the Notebook tab. The summary Recall saved has a Listen button.
- Click Listen. A player stays at the bottom of the screen so you can pause, resume, or replay.
- A chat you saved into the notebook has the same button.
The button is in the web app, the mobile app, and the browser extension. Listen Mode is on Plus.
Choose a voice
Open Settings, then Text to Speech.
- Language is the language of the voice.
- Voice is the built-in voice for that language. Play a sample before you keep one.
The first time you click Listen, Recall offers to open these settings.
Switching voices generates the audio again, and that counts toward your text-to-speech usage.
Clone a voice
Clone your own voice, or the voice of someone close to you, such as a parent or a partner. Under Custom Voices, click Add Voice.
- Read the script on screen, or have them read it, in a clear voice. The recording should be between 5 and 15 seconds. Recall uses it to learn the voice, then reads your summary in that voice.
- Confirm you have the right to use the voice.
- Click Submit.
Plus includes up to 3 custom voices. Max includes up to 15.
